Martin Roemers is met zijn serie Urban India genomineerd voor de Europese Architectuurfotografie Prijs 2009, een Duits initiatief. Met 24 anderen is Roemers doorgedrongen tot de laatste ronde, wat betekent dat zijn werk wordt opgenomen in een tentoonstelling en bijbehorende catalogus.
De prijs wordt doro de organisatoren als volgt omschreven:
The theme is "New Homeland". Globalization, feared just a few years ago, is now shaping life and changing the world. Wars are forcing to people to flee, as they always have done, but where do they go? They all search for a "New Homeland" and many find one where they were least expecting it. Demolitions, conversions and new development now take place in ever shorter cycles – this is another way that new homelands are created. The theme should be explored in coherent series of pictures.
De prijs wordt uitgereikt op 24 april in Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) in Frankfurt.
