Engels persbericht:

Launched in June, "Imagine a new world" addressed itself to professional and amateur photographers willing to share with a European public, their vision of what the future will bring. The competition is one of the major initiatives organised by the European Commission for the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.

During the summer, hundreds of photographers searched for inspiration across Europe. In total, around 1500 photographers submitted almost 5000 photos before 31 August, the deadline of the competition.

The European public is now invited from 1 to 31 October 2009 to vote online for their favourite photograph among 30 pre-selected photos for the Public’s Favourite Award (www.imagine2009.eu). The 30 pictures were chosen by a prestigious jury of acclaimed artists and museum directors.

The winner of the Public’s Favourite Award will receive photographic equipment, as well as an invitation to participate at the closing event of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation, in Stockholm. Their photograph will also be displayed – together with the photographs of the 3 winners and the remaining 29 pre-selected pictures – from 11 to 22 November 2009 in the "Espace Photographique Contretype", in Brussels (Hotel Hannon), which will then travel as an exhibition around Europe.
